A. This will be one of the most special days in your life. A day that you have spent an enormous amount of time planning, not to mention the expense! On the day you will only have one attempt to get things right. Does your friend want that responsibility? Has your friend ever videoed a wedding before or will this be their first attempt?
If they only have a consumer camcorder, the video and audio quality will be far below that of a professional camcorder. This is a bit like your photographer using a disposable camera for the wedding photos! Will they use additional microphones during the vows and speeches to capture clean, clear audio during these important parts of the day? Will they have access to a professional editing suite to edit and mix the raw footage and produce a polished, professional video? There is also the consideration that your friend will be a guest and will want to relax and join in the celebrations, whereas we are there solely to film your day and will be concentrating 100% throughout the day on getting things right - for you.
After all, many of your friends have cameras, but would you trust them to take your wedding-photos?
A. This concern is very natural and because we are aware that people do become self-conscious when a camera is focused on them, we make a great effort to be as unobtrusive as possible while we produce wedding videos. Using professional camcorders and microphones helps, because it enables us to stay at a reasonable distance and still get great footage.
Indeed, we find that the only way to get really good footage is when people are unaware of us and are relaxed and acting naturally. Many people tell us that they had almost forgotten that we were there!
This unobtrusive style and method of filming is demonstrated in our example clips. These clips show that people are relaxed and unaware of the camera. Indeed, on the day the photographer will be far more intrusive while we are quietly in the background filming what is going on.
It is important to start by saying that it is possible produce a perfectly good wedding video using a single camera. A single camera is more cost effective and less intrusive than multiple cameras.
However, using two cameras allows us to film a different viewpoint of the same scene, giving wedding videos more of a television production feel. The extra camera also gives us additional footage that sometimes isn't possible with one camera. This enables us to film simultaneous events and provides varied views throughout the day, especially during the preparations, the ceremony and speeches. For example, guest reactions during the speeches, or during a church ceremony when our position or the layout of the church may restrict our view of readers or soloists.
In short, multiple cameras should be viewed as an enhancement rather than a necessityand are certainly worth considering for church ceremonies and morning preparations, particularly if you want the groom filmed as well as the bride.
"thank you for our fantastic DVD - we love it and so do our families! It turned out so much better than we could have ever imagined and we've watched it about eight times already!
Thanks again"
